SkyJump

The Brief

Sky Jump was my final project for the programming for games web and apps course I attended while attending Vancouver Film School.  This was my first time developing for and exploring the world of VR. The platform I built Sky Jump for was google cardboard.  My goal was to use the limited inputs I had available to create a fun and simple platforming game while also trying my best to pull the player out of the world they're in and into the world of Sky Jump, well as best as I could using a mobile phone and a google cardboard

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced with Sky Jump was learning some of the rules when working with VR and doing so in a very small period of time. Things like developing the UI/UX were fun and an interesting challenge. I found the medium to be very enjoyable and I see a lot of potential with VR and am very excited to see what developers will create in the future as the technology becomes more mainstream.

My Role

Sky Jump was a solo project so I was responsible for everything including all the coding, art, and design of the game. It was a great learning experience for me as I was challenged to create the UI/UX for a VR game, work with things like full 360 seamless sky boxes and figure out how to handle motion sickness that can come with some VR projects.
