My Role
As Co-Founder and CDO of HExO Consulting, I led the visual development of Royal Holiday Adventure as the project’s sole visual designer and artist. Working within our three-person core team and alongside an outsourced development team, I was responsible for the complete player-facing visual experience.
My work included art direction, UI/UX, characters, environments, the illustrated world map and landmarks, puzzle artwork, interface assets, animation, and video content, taking the visual experience from early concepts through final production.
A major focus was creating a cohesive visual language that could connect several different puzzle experiences with the broader travel theme while remaining clear, colorful, and approachable across the game.
Challenges
Creating a World of Destinations
One of the project's largest visual challenges was creating a custom illustrated world map built around Royal Holiday's international travel destinations. The map needed to represent locations around the world while maintaining a cohesive, playful visual style that fit naturally within the game.
I illustrated the map and created individual landmarks representing the different locations where Royal Holiday operated, balancing recognizable real-world references with the simplified visual language of the game. The map also became an important part of the progression experience, connecting the company's travel identity with the player's journey.
